Why you Should Buy a Synthetic Rope Hammock

George Kerr asked:

If you dream of relaxing on a beach, swaying gently swaying on a rope hammock, you are not alone. This is an image well all dream of, especially after a hard days work. There are a couple of styles of hammock to choose from – rope and fabric. People will tell you what they think is the best but it is up to you to decide for yourself.

Rope Hammocks

Rope hammocks are the traditional “desert island” hammock we generally think of. These hammocks can be made from either natural materials (which might be hemp or cotton) or synthetic materials such as nylon or polyester. Whatever you choose both natural and synthetic ropes are designed to withstand the weight of a fully grown person. So there shouldn’t be any risk of your hammock snapping.

Synthetic Rope Hammocks

The main reason you would want to buy a synthetic rope hammock is because they are more durable if left outside to the elements. If you plan on keeping your hammock outside then it is definitely a good idea to buy synthetic, otherwise you should store it away in a garage or shed.

Unless you have two poles or trees in your garden positioned hammock-length apart from each other, you will need to buy a hammock stand. Quite often hammocks come already packaged with a stand but you should make sure before buying. If you buy a stand it means that you are not just limited to using your hammock in your own garden – you can take it with you to the beach or to a friend’s house for example.
