declaar asked:
what kind of professional should I call to help me decide if I have enough room in my chimney to add my wood stove?

My guess would be a carpenter.

You really should call a heating and air conditioning contractor. They can tell you if your flue and chimney are deteriorated or not.

a plumber/heating professional. if the chimney is lined with a flue, and in fairly good shape, it could easily handle 2 stoves

Look in the Yellow Pages for companies that specialize in fire place installations. They will take 98% of the guess work out of what needs to be done. That’s who a carpenter, general contractor, or heating/air conditioning company will call to come out for you.

any store that sells woodstoves should know flue sizes and capacities…if its an 8 x 12 flue it should be able to handle another stove…
